![]() ![]() First an HTTP Status 500, then, after switching to IE from Firefox, the website seemed to be working until it was time to "process my payment" even though there was nothing due, then I got an HTTP Status 405 error. I went to to activate my device and I couldn't do it due to repeated server errors. I'm a computer programmer and this device seemed awfully tempting at the free 500MB/month level, so I decided to give it a shot. You most likely won't be using this at your home anyways - just while you're out. ![]() This does not mean it is a MUST to have service at your home. I'm in a large city and it's still a little "spotty". Make sure you have 4g service in your area before purchasing. This device like the other "free" ones only work with 4g. If your usage goes over your plan allotment, then your account balance is reduced by the cost per mb. Since they are using a 3rd party network for cell service I can understand this since they may not know how much data you're using at any given instant (that info is sent from the 3rd party and may be delayed a few hours). Apparently they charge you a flat amount ($10 I think) to put into your "account" once you hit 400mb. I've seen people complain about them charging before the 500mb "free" mark, but I can understand this. Keep an eye on your usage if you select the free plan. The device is very small - about 2 inches square and a half inch thick. There are two other lights that tell you if you have a cell connection (which also changes color depending on signal strength) and the 3rd lights when a wifi device is connected. The power light is green for full power, yellow for half battery and red for low battery. No LCD screen, but the lights tell you what you need to know. This is where the freedompop really shines. ![]() If you leave it off you have no way of knowing how much juice is still left in the battery. Although the netzero device has an lcd screen, if you keep it on, it drains the battery. Had a netzero device for a little over a year. ![]()
